The Princess and the Pea

PhotobucketHere is a poem i have made from the story of The Princess and the Pea

There once was a Prince, so noble and kind
Who searched the world over to find his bride
He looked for a princess (of which there was a great deal)
But he searched for one who was special and real.

Though he searched for quite a while,
And the princesses he met were very sublime,
He soon returned home with a broken heart,
For he had not found what he had sought.

One night as the prince slept soundly in bed,
A terrible storm brewed overhead.
And as the storm fiercely roared,
A gentle knock was heard on the door.

The wise old king rose to see who was there,
But what he saw at the door caused him to stare.
There standing in the doorway was a princess,
Who, because the wind and the rain, was a mess.

Water fell from her hair and her clothes,
All the way down from her head to her toes.
She claimed to truly be a real princess,
Even though she did not look authentic.

So the Queen decided to test this claim,
And under the princesses mattress she laid,
A small green pea, the size of a bead,
On top she laid many mattresses, numbering twenty.

On top of the mattresses also she laid,
Twenty eider-down beds, that were homemade.
On this the princess slept all night,
And when she arose she seemed very up tight.

When it was inquired of her how she had slept,
She replied with a sigh, “Not well I regret,
Heaven only knows what was in my bed
Because of it I am bruised quite a bit.

Now the Queen knew that she was a real princess
Because no one but a real princess could be that sensitive.
So the Prince and the Princess fell madly in love,And the Prince’s search was now over and done.
